WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHRISTIAN?

Quite simply, a Christian is someone who is seeking to live with Jesus Christ at the centre of their life.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE WITH JESUS AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR LIFE?

It means that your values and choices, your goals and ambitions, and your sense of self-worth are shaped, above all else, by his teaching, his example and his living presence.

WHAT IS THE LIVING PRESENCE OF JESUS?

Historical figures can continue to influence the present through the memory of their lives and words, sometimes preserved in written form. Of course, that goes for Jesus too. But, far more than that, Christians believe that Jesus, who rose from the dead, is spiritually present and active in the world. He is personally touching lives and transforming communities today.

WHY LIVE WITH JESUS AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR LIFE?

We all want to live lives that are happy, fulfilled and meaningful. Jesus came to show us how live life to the full, in relationship with our Creator, God. He called this 'eternal life'.

WHY JESUS?

Many spiritual pathways offer a connection with God. But the wisdom of Jesus' teaching, the compassion of his life, and the power of his death and resurrection is unparalleled. He is uniquely, Christians believe, 'God with us'. Check out the story of Jesus in the gospels and see what you think.

WHY CHURCH?

Jesus formed a community of followers that became the Christian Church. God created us for community. Being a Christian is a spiritual journey in the company of a band of brothers and sisters. We support one another as we worship, serve and grow together. That's how Jesus intended it to be.

HOW DO YOU PUT JESUS AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR LIFE?

It begins with a simple choice - believe and be baptised. Baptism is the sign of belonging to Jesus and his Church. By getting involved in Christian community we learn to centre our lives on Jesus and develop the spiritual practices that open ourselves to his living presence.
